Attorneys Steven G. Wigrizer and Samuel A. Anyan Win $2.3 Million Verdict in Fatal Car Accident Case

Last month, the surviving family members of Dewey Book – who was killed in a fatal car accident involving three vehicles in 2009 – received a $2.3 million jury verdict, including $750,000 in wrongful death damages, and $1.5 million in survival damages. Attorneys Steven G. Wigrizer and Samuel A. Anyan, Jr handled Book’s case on behalf of her family.
Book’s car was struck from behind while she was attempting to make a left-hand turn in Honey Brook, Chester County in December 2009. The impact sent her car sprawling into oncoming traffic, where it was struck by another car traveling at 42 to 49 MPH. She died shortly after the collision.
Although the defendants admitted to their liability early in the trial, winning a fair amount of compensation has taken time. Since every person in Book’s surviving family is currently employed, and the children are all grown, the jury factored in the family’s appearance of well-being and weighed it against their true economic losses.
