Defense Summary Judgment Motion Defeated, Permitting Hospital Mold Case to Move Forward
2007
Michael R. Pratt of Wapner, Newman, Wigrizer & Brecher overcame a defense motion for summary judgment in a case involving a minor leukemia patient who sustained a mold infection as a consequence of inadequate cleaning practices in a Philadelphia hospital. As a result of the denial of the motion, which was filed by the contractor responsible for supervising the hospital's housekeeping personnel, the way is clear for the case to proceed to trial.
Michael Pratt, an associate with Wapner Newman since 2004, concentrates his practice on medical malpractice and products liability litigation.
$790,000 Settlement in Bucks County Case
December 2007
In a case of medical negligence, Wapner Newman attorneys Steven G. Wigrizer and Michael R. Pratt secured damages for the family of a 67-year old man in Bucks County. The man died as a result of complications resulting from a perforated colon after a negligent colonoscopy failed to detect a near-obstructing cancer tumor. Two days into a projected four-day trial, the attorneys secured $790,000 in damages for the family.
