Beaver County Manufacturing Firm Faces $119,000 in Fines
Federal regulators are proposing $119,400 in workplace safety fines against a Beaver County manufacturing firm where a worker died in a crane accident. The man was killed last year when a six-ton stainless steel cylinder dropped onto him from a crane. The federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration said its investigation found 42 serious violations and four repeat violations of workplace safety standards. 

Region's Construction Cranes Not Inspected
Despite a construction boom and a series of crane accidents around the country, government inspectors haven't been checking some of Pittsburgh's largest cranes. "It's pretty much left up to the contractor, the crane operator and the developer to make sure that they're doing this in a safe manner," said the chief of the Pittsburgh Bureau of Building Inspection. 

Hispanics Dying on Job at Higher Rates
